The Icelandic Science and Technology Policy Council (STPC) has announced the selection of proposals to be funded, and three Centers of Excellence and Research Clusters have been selected for funding. Funding will be provided for up to seven years. The grants are the largest to date in Iceland, and the highest grant was awarded to the GEOthermal Research Group (GEORG). The Editor of this grant proposal was Dr. Sigurdur G. Bogason, CEO of MarkMar ehf. The company is also a partner in GEORG and will lead the Outreach and Dissemination work package (WP8), as well as participate in proposal preparations for additional funding to be organized by GEORG. In light of this latest success an overview table has been prepared to summarize grants successfully facilitated in recent years, see table 1 below. Table 1 Overview of Research Grants Facilitated
 Training has been provided on several occasions on how to prepare successful FP7 proposals, and the main ones are listed here below. Also the typical content of these courses is shown. This course is usually given in Icelandic, but can be made available for English speakers on requests, either in Iceland or in house at your premises around Europe. The course covers the following: - FP7 explained and policy drivers for the EU framework research programmes
- The project conceptualization, and the consortium building
- Proposal and project finances
- Writing of the proposal and selected cases from calls studied
- Proposal polishing and electronic submissions - EPSS
- The negotiation process for successful projects
- Project start up and first steps in the project operation
